Apply for the 2025 PDA Farm Vitality Grant

Get up to $15k to expand your business

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Farm Vitality Planning Grant is now accepting applications for the 2025 cycle. This program provides up to $15,000 per applicant to cover 75% of the cost of professional services that support:

  • Business planning and financial analysis

  • Succession and transition planning

  • Diversification or expansion strategies

  • Legal and accounting support for farm transitions

  • Succession facilitation and mediation

Whether you're preparing to pass your farm to the next generation, exploring new markets, or building a more resilient business model, this grant can help you get there.

Grant Details

  • Maximum Award: $15,000 (covers 75% of eligible costs)

  • Applicant Match: 25% of total project cost (in-kind contributions not accepted)

  • Type: Reimbursement. Applicants pay upfront and are reimbursed for approved costs tied to an approved work plan.

  • Funding Pool: $500,000 available for FY 2024–2025

  • Eligible Expenses: Professional services including accountants, attorneys, business consultants, appraisers, and facilitators

  • Ineligible Expenses: Capital improvements, equipment purchases, land acquisition, conservation plans, travel expenses, and taxes

Note: Reimbursement is available for eligible costs incurred on or after July 1, 2024, provided they are included in your approved work plan.

  • Agricultural producer groups
  • Farmer or rancher cooperatives
  • Commercial fishers

Note: Applicants' businesses must be in the state of Pennsylvania
