10 Fresh Email Newsletter Prompts

By Amira Haddon, Internal Marketing Manager

Email marketing is incredibly valuable. It’s the only form of marketing where you guarantee that your audience sees your content (or at least reads the subject lines).

However, coming up with content to send out on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis can be a challenge. It’s hard to think of fresh ideas, especially when your brain is full of all the other things it takes to run a farm.

Here are some content prompts for your next set of newsletters:

  1. Follow us for morning or evening chores. Explain the daily tasks that keep your farm running and why they’re so important.  (explain what you do, at what time, in what order, and why)

  2. Our most-used tool. Whether it’s a pocket knife, a hammer, or even your trusty overalls, explain all the things that the tool helps you with.

  3. The machine we couldn’t live without. An ode to your skid loader, tractor, bottling machine, or pasteurizer: all the jobs it has accomplished and why it’s indispensable.
  4. Meet ___, our favorite ____. Introduce a cow or pig or other animal and tell a personal story.

  1. Product Highlight. Focus on a single product (single flavor of cheese, variety of jam, or cut of meat) and explain how it’s made, what it tastes like, why it’s so special, and how to get it.

  2. How we make ____. Walk the audience step by step through the process of making one of your products. This gives you a chance to highlight how you are involved at every step.

  3. What a label (organic, regenerative, etc.) really means to us. Explain your practices and why your products have the labels that they do. Use this as an opportunity to talk about your feelings on how food should be made or raised.

  4. A typical breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Write about what you eat. This is a fun and personal email which your audience will love – people are very curious about other people.

  5. A recipe we love. Share a recipe that highlights your products and explain why it will improve the lives of your audience - maybe it’s a make-ahead breakfast for busy mornings or a dinner recipe that even the pickiest eaters will love.

  6. The secret behind _____. Share a secret about your business name, logo design, most popular product, or even yourself. Use this email to share more personal details about your business and help your audience feel connected.

Your newsletter doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be consistent and engaging. These prompts will help you build brand loyalty and ultimately drive more sales.
